Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice!
Rare is the person who hasn’t experienced intermittent periods of sadness or darkness or being in “the depth.”
Crying out to God for help when we’re in dark times acknowledges that we’re not there alone. God doesn’t avoid the darkness of our lives but instead hears our cries.
Lord, You are with me wherever I am. May I always remember that there is no place where You are not. So when I’m in the depths of my own sadness/darkness, I know I can count on You to be there with me. I don’t even have to raise my voice. You hear me, and You know what my struggles are and how to help me accept the sadness/darkness better than anyone else. May I gradually move into the joy/light with You.
